Debt relief is on a lot of people's minds right now because the bad economy has just made things worse. Those that have debt are now in a more serious situation as they may have lost their job or sense that their job is not secure. Having debt just increases the everyday pressure and stress a person has to live with as the future for them becomes so uncertain.
Even those who have never had debt may be facing it now for the first time as so many have lost jobs or had their wages cut. Someone who has been living on the edge of debt, just making enough to get by, may now be underwater as the economy continues to worsen.
One reason for all the debt problems is that so many people have been living their lives by spending more than they make. Credit cards are so easy to get and use that many folks have let them get out of control. Now that they are in trouble, they are looking to the government and hoping there is some program that will help them out.
Our government is in no position to help as we as a country are also deeply in debt. It is not the governments place to help undo all the bad choices they have made. It is no matter anyway as our government doesn't have the money to bail people out as they have tried to bail out certain companies.
Although sad, the truth is that people who are deep in debt are most likely in that position because of bad financial decisions they have made. People are no longer taught the importance of saving money and only buying things they can afford. In good times where everyone is working they may be able to get by with this strategy but in times like these, it just doesn't work. We need to get back to working and saving and doing a lot less spending.
