UK petrol prices rise, as Europe prices fall
New statistics show that petrol prices in the UK are hitting a new high while the prices have reduced radically around the rest of Europe.
The regular price for a litre of unleaded petrol in Britain hit 128.71p, which is the uppermost it has ever been in the history of petrol for the UK. Activists took a appeal to the Treasury asking for their planned upsurge in the petrol duty, to be dropped.
While British petrol prices has amplified, statistics from the AA motoring group, showed that the value of unleaded fuel in Germany had fallen 6.5 per cent since the start of January, the Netherlands five per cent and France 2.5 per cent.
Phillip Tomlinson, a spokeswoman for Moneysupermarket Car Insurance, said "I don't want to start a fight and accusing petrol companies of trickery, but we are not prepared to see our people denied drops in the price of petrol".
"There is obviously a systematic problem with how petrol garages price their petrol in the UK" Values in Europe have plummeted because of the lower price of wholesale petrol, which then has fallen in the UK too.
